A Brief Description of all my Coursework

AS Coursework
This task was to produce the front cover, contents page and a double page spread, with an original article, for a music magazine. The magazine could follow any musical genre and be aimed at any target audience. I decided to do a magazine depicting the rock genre aimed at a mixed audience aged 16-23. My magazine was called 'Snare', a word that has a strong connection to the rock music genre and follows a convention of magazines. The main features of my magazine also followed the conventions of magazines, specifically those of existing rock magazines. However my created artist contrasted traditional ideas of a rock band, as a girl was the 'front-man. Few bands follow this structure, with Paramore being the most famous.

A2 Coursework
This was a joint project. My partner and I were given the task of creating a music video for a song of our choice. Though the song could be famous we had to make up our own artist persona. We decided to use Alex Turner's 'Piledriver Waltz' and create a solo artist, much like Turner, to perform it. Our next choice was to decided on the video style; illustration, amplification and disjuncture. We chose a combination of illustrations and disjuncture, with an unrealistic setting and peculiar features. We chose to have a continuos movement effect, with few cuts and shot changes, which broke a huge convention of music videos, and visual texts in general.
